A powerful semetic mother goddess originating from Sumeria. Her name means Queen of heaven and she was depicted as the world tree . An Asherah pole was a sacred tree or pole that stood near Canaanite religious locations to honor the mother-goddess . Many biblical scholars now feel there is much evidence to suggest she was once seen as God’s consort.
