At this time I  have been drawn to 2 feminine archetypes . Firstly to Persephone – Goddess and Queen of the Underworld who blooms brightly at the height of the Summer. Her Earth mother , Demeter is happy and abundant as her daughter is back from the Underworld until the Autumn when Persephone returns to her husband, Hades.

Secondly to the Divine Welsh Queen of the Other-world…Rhiannon. Although many connect her with Horses I choose here to represent her with the Heron(Creyr). Rhiannon walks with the Fae and  is said to  use her powers to  shape-shift. Changing often into this great birds’ form; symbolising the role as  guardian of those who cross the thresholds. The Mythic form of Persephone, Rhiannon and Heron is mainly one of psychopomp; guiding souls to the afterlife and onward to the Other-worlds. Representing in Jungian terms our journey between the conscious and the unconscious realms, and our journey between Life and Death and Rebirth.
