Queen of the Night and Bringer of Light 🌀

Hekate is a dark, triple Goddess. Here we see her as  Hekate Phosphorus , the name of which  is associated  to the rising of the morning star of Venus , the bringer of Light. Her dark, magical and wandering presence is one of great antiquity,  guarding entrances and gateways and the corridor between light and dark.  Her most important cults were those of Eleusis and the island of Samothrake. Here she was worshiped as a goddess of the Mysteries and in had a particular role helping and befriending Persephone. She is associated with herbs and poisonous plants but her flower is the dandelion. Offerings are left to her at 3-way crossroads.

At the gate of dusk I stand,
Hecate, on the other hand,
Guard me with your magic power.
Guide me through the crossroads hour,
From the glory of the light,
To the beauty of the night.
