“Your sacred space is where you can find yourself over and over again.”…………….Joseph Campbell
This print is made from the deep memories and connections to all those I have sat with in sacred space in the past, in the now, in the future 🌀
Nemetona in a Celtic/Germanic/Druidic deity that has her ancient roots in Gaul but extended to these isles. Her name is derived from Nemeto meaning sacred grove , and she is guardian of such places especially those which are in the open Landscape. I describe her here as the personification of a boundaried area used for ritual and worship, She is related to the druidic concept of Nemeton, which is the designation of sacred spiritual space and sanctuary. The Hawthorn and Oak tree are sacred to her. In Romano religion she was paired with a Mars God – “the shining Mars” and they were worshiped as a divine couple …an ancient altar dedicated to them can be seen in Bath.
